Project description
Traces of civilization in the Bednja municipality date back to the Neolithic period (younger Stone Age) when the Bednja area was inhabited, as evidenced by the remains of stone axes from Brezova Gora, Cvetlin, and Jazbina. The Bronze Age culture is also present. On Želimor hill, there was a well-protected settlement with still-visible remains, where pottery, fragments of a bronze axe, and fragments of a Celtic hand-rotating millstone were found. There are also finds of bronze axes from Bednja and Jamno. From the Roman period, a coin dating back to the 2nd century was found in the Bednja area.
